New York, NY – 16 December 2024 – The BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group (TIG) and Conservation International have won Environmental Finance’s 2024 award for Impact Investment/Project of the Year: Biodiversity and Ecosystems. This is the second year in a row that that TIG and CI have received this award.
This recognition highlights TIG’s $1 billion reforestation strategy in Latin America, which aims to restore ecosystems, combat climate change, and support sustainable development. These efforts are supported Conservation International, which serves as the strategy’s impact adviser.
“It is very gratifying to see the impacts of our reforestation strategy continue to emerge on the ground: over time, we expect to see biodiversity returning, ecosystem connectivity improving, and new opportunities for rural communities to develop. But this is still the beginning. As we continue executing one the largest known restoration efforts in the Cerrado biome of Brazil, our aim is to set a new standard for what’s possible with sustainable forestry – for the benefit of people, climate and nature,” said Mark Wishnie, TIG’s Chief Sustainability Officer.
