The Cerrado and Pantanal biomes are among the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet, but they are increasingly under threat. The Rede de Sementes Flor do Cerrado initiative, launched in 2022 by WWF-Brasil, Instituto Taquari Vivo, and ARCP, is tackling this challenge by fostering a community-based network for the collection and distribution of native seeds.
TTG Brasil recently contributed to the publication of a Guide to Species for Seed Collection (Guia de Espécies para Coleta de Sementes in Portuguese), which adds a vital tool for ecological restoration efforts. This guide provides information on 50 key plant species, offering insights into their characteristics, seed collection methods, and role in restoring degraded landscapes.
