BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group’s Brazil Cerrado 1 (VCS 5511) project earns ‘A’ rating from BeZero Carbon

New York, NY – October 6, 2026 – BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group’s (BTG Pactual TIG) Brazil Cerrado 1 carbon project (VCS 5511) has earned an ‘A’rating from BeZero Carbon, placing it in the top 6% of BeZero-rated nature-based removals projects globally and giving it the highest BeZero ex post rating of any reforestation project in Latin America.

Spanning approximately 37,000 hectares in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, Cerrado 1 is the first carbon project within BTG Pactual TIG’s Latin American reforestation strategy, for which Conservation International serves as Impact Adviser.

Earlier this year, Brazil Cerrado 1 became the first project globally to receive credits issued under Verra’s VM0047 Afforestation, Reforestation and Revegetation methodology, which meets the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market’s Core Carbon Principles. The project is also verified to the Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB) Standards.

The rating comes alongside continued progress across the broader strategy, including:

  • Native ecosystem restoration underway across more than 20,000 hectares of the Cerrado, expected to create more than 80,000 hectares of connected habitat
  • More than 1,000 plant and animal species documented across the portfolio
  • More than 400 miles of stream corridors under enhanced protection

BTG Pactual TIG and Conservation International continue to advance a model for large-scale reforestation and restoration that seeks to deliver high-quality carbon credits, meaningful biodiversity benefits, and financial returns.
